Dat Ass Vraiment Crazy!
Hey there! So, I’ve got this nice story to share with you. It was an incredible experience for my wife and me, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading it too.
Back in 2025, my wife decided to join a church choir in Luxembourg to enjoy singing. It’s like the heart of the community, where people come together, make friends, and feel a sense of belonging. At least that’s how I felt about it, even though I’m not part of the choir myself. It was lovely to see new friendships blossom. It was a great step for us, being expats in Luxembourg who wanted to get more involved in the local life and connect with the great people in this multicultural country.
Now, here’s the unexpected twist. My wife met a woman from the choir who’s a mum of four. The first time I met her at a community musical theatre show where her youngest son was the lead actor. After the show, we also got to know her daughter, who was already announced as one of the eight finalists in the competition to represent Luxembourg at the Eurovision Song Contest. It was a positive experience meeting her the first time, and it was nice to see that she was interested in getting to know us. All in all, she’s a very nice and humble person to talk to. This was a significant moment for us. This lead us to do what we did. Keep reading to find out.
So, that’s what happened in November 2025. After that, we went about our lives without much incident. Then, in January 2026, a friend of mine asked me if I still had my T-shirt online store. Well, I hadn’t released it yet, but I still had it. He asked me for prices for a T-shirt they wanted to have for some tournaments they were planning in the near future. Unfortunately, that didn’t come to fruition.
Then my wife had this brilliant idea. She thought, “Why not create and sponsor T-shirts for the singer we met in November?” Her mum is a nice person, so is she. We wanted to show our support for her at the Luxembourg Singing Contest (LSC), which is the final competition for the artist who’ll represent Luxembourg at the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna.
We were thrilled to get involved! It’s such a wonderful community, and the people there are so friendly. We had no idea how much buzz this would create! It was like a tidal wave of excitement!
We started asking people for sizes and how many T-shirts they wanted. We got some responses, but not as many as we thought. But hey, we didn’t let that discourage us. We printed more T-shirts anyway.
The first batch of T-shirts arrived, and we gave them out at choir practice. As people saw the T-shirts and the night of the contest getting closer, more and more people started getting excited. Suddenly, we were getting requests for more T-shirts! Luckily, we had a second batch coming soon. That really helped!
The excitement was palpable! It was almost unbearable to see what would happen at the night of the competition.
The Day of the Final Arrived
The first ones arriving, all decked out in our pink T-shirts, were immediately asked by the media if they could take pictures. They thought it was an amazing display of support for an artist. When we arrived, you could see pink T-shirts everywhere. People we didn’t even know and people we did know, everyone with a smile on their face. People greeting each other that hadn’t met before, but now recognised that they were part of the same team. It was truly amazing!
Oh, you won’t believe what happened at the Eurovision Song Contest final! There were about 60 to 70 people wearing these flashy pink T-shirts, flags, and headbands. They were all totally supporting one artist, and everyone was wondering who it was. Why were there so many pink T-Shirts? What was the whole deal?
And guess what? Almost all of them gathered in front of the stage, shouting and cheering for the artist. It was like a crazy buzz, and it was absolutely amazing! The artist had mentioned before that this support would help her because she can only see black on stage due to the lighting. But these pink shirts would stand out, and she’d feel calm and composed because she knew her community was behind her.
During the night, when the artist reached the final three contestants, her mom sent us a message. She said that the artist had said that we were her heart. Can you even imagine? It was mind-boggling! We just wanted her to have an incredible night, despite all the odds stacked against her before the competition.
So, the three artists took the stage to receive the final votes. The tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife. First, the jury from other European countries cast their votes. And guess what? Our artist had a lead of 14 points over the next artist! We couldn’t believe our eyes. The entire jury, except for one, voted for our artist first.
Then, the audience vote came in. This could totally turn things around! The third-placed artist got 56 points from the audience, and the second-placed artist also got 56. But our artist? She got 128 points from the audience! WOW! SHE WON!
At that point, there was no stopping her. The concert hall erupted in cheers and applause, and we all went wild. It was incredible!
So, the artist we supported is EVA MARIJA, representing Luxembourg at the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna 2026. What a night!

She couldn't believe it herself and created this amazing quote: "Dat Ass Vraiment Crazy", that title of this story. This is the perfect reflection of Luxembourg. Luxembourgish, French and English in one sentence. That's how it is to live in Luxembourg. A great culmination of different heritages.
The next day, you could see photos and read all about the pink T-shirts of her supporters at every news outlet, creating this incredible atmosphere. We were so thrilled to be a part of this amazing experience. It also gave me the motivation to finally release my T-Shirt online store to the public, after seven or so years! You know, sometimes you just need a little nudge in the right direction. And guess what? It was an amazing one! All this happened in just four weeks! Not much sleep during that time, but it was all worth it. Thanks to everyone involved, and I hope we can experience something similar again in the future. Who knows, just keep trying!
Wishing you all the best.
